Students are also recognized when they are listed on the honor roll at their respective schools. In January the above students were recognized for making the honor roll.

DBHA supports and encouarages Census Participation

In March 2020, Volusia County residents will have a once-in-a-decade opportunity to unlock millions of dollars in federal funds that can address our area's most pressing needs. That opportunity is the 2020 Census. Every 10 years, the U.S. government conducts a count of the entire population to determine how Congressional representation will be apportioned and how much funding to allocate for more than 130 federal programs. That means that when you respond to the census, you are helping Volusia County get its fair share of federal funds that go toward our schools, hospitals, roads and other vital programs including social service and public programs. In mid-March, every household in the United States will receive an invitation to participate in the 2020 Census. There will be a unique code on the postcard, and you must use this code to complete your questionnaire. This year, you can respond online or by phone. If you do not respond by April 1, the U.S. Census Bureau will send you a paper form. If you still don't respond, a census taker will knock on your door.

Census 2020

For anyone who needs internet or computer access to complete the census form online,DBHA encourages residents And community members to visit one of our neighborhood network career centers between the hours of

Gloria dropped out of school in 2006. Throughout the years she became a single mother of five. Raising children took up most of her time causing her to struggle to find consistent work that would balance her life. Without a strong support system, Gloria decided to do whatever it took to get back in school to receive her GED.

In February of 2019, she obtained her GED through working with the Daytona Beach Housing Authority. Since then through self-motivation to keep moving forward she joined the Family Self-Sufficiency program and by April 2019 she obtained her CNA license. Gloria started to work in July 2019, but still struggled to find the right position to fit her work/life balance needs. After all, being a mother comes first and it was important to her to be able to be home and take care of her children.

In October 2019, Gloria was able to find the perfect position where she could work in the evening and this triggered her to start saving in her escrow account through the FSS Program. The savings incentive has become the driving force to help Gloria achieve her lifelong goal of becoming a homeowner. Due to Gloria's perseverance and hard work, this has set her up to accrue a substantial amount of money monthly in her interest bearing escrow account. As Gloria always says,

"It's never too late to live out your dream!"
